Wooden Legacy consolation round
ESPN News
In Central Florida's 78-65 win, we got a great collection of nonsense from the broadcast team of Jon Crispin and Corey Williams:
"he epitomizes swagger"
"isn't that a basketball play?"
"versatile bigs"
"a quasi euro step"
"that's just a heady play"
"screen the screener type of action" (2)
"it's called energy and ego, it's hard to stop that"
"a shot ready pass"
"earned the right to verticality"
"a modified pocket pass"
"can change the scoreboard with a flick of a wrist"
"throw a monkey wrench into your offensive plans"
"a back to the basket type of big man"
"crab dribble"
"he's impacted the basketball game"
Use this word in a sentence twice, please, sir - Corey Williams Edition
"you have to extend this basketball game and the only way to extend this basketball game is to foul"

Game 386 - Illinois at Central Florida
NIT quarterfinals
March 22 at CFE Arena in Orlando, FL
ESPN2
Well, there's one thing you can say about Johnny Dawkins: he sure can coach in the NIT.
He moved to 14-1 all-time in the event as Central Florida advanced to the semifinals with a 68-58 win. The hosts provided their usual strong defense - they came into the night leading the nation in field goal percentage allowed and fifth in scoring defense - holding the Illini to 33% shooting.
Dawkins won NIT titles at Stanford to close both the 2011-2012 and 2014-2015 seasons and he's two wins away from No. 3.
UCF plays TCU in next Tuesday's final four.
Outstanding final collegiate game for Illinois' Malcolm Hill, who scored a game-high 29 points and on the other end of the floor added three of the Illini's 10 steals. Hill hit 9-of-18 from the field, though his teammates were just 10-of-44.

Game 306 - Central Florida women at South Florida
February 14 at USF Sun Dome in Tampa, FL
ESPN
Quite a night for the Golden Knights, who not only defeated a ranked team for the first time in their Division 1 history, but snapped a 19-game losing streak against their in-state rivals.
The 66-62 victory was the first for UCF in the series since December 10, 1980 and they couldn't have done it without Aliyah Gregory.
The junior guard was sensational, using a pretty mid-range pull-up jumper to score a career-high 34 points on 15-of-26 shooting in 36 minutes. Gregory set the tone right away, hitting 6-of-8 from the field in the opening quarter, which included her becoming the 22nd player in school history to reach the 1,000-point plateau.
"Of course, hitting a major milestone like that feels good and then we get a win on top of that feels great," Gregory told ucfknights.com.
UCF used a dominant, 20-6 second quarter to grab a nine-point halftime lead, and withstood a fourth quarter rally from the Bulls to move to 16-9 overall and 6-6 in the American Athletic Conference.

Game 118 - Cincinnati at Central Florida
February 9 at CFE Arena in Orlando, FL

Some solid nonsense to go over from commentator Mark Wise during this 69-51 Cincinnati win.
Let's take a look at his top 5:
5. "Catch and shoot guys"
4. "A show and go"
3. "He's owning that high rent district"
2. "Straddling the bubble"
1. "From bonus land!" (said four times)

Game 76 - Central Florida at South Florida
January 20 at Sun Dome in Tampa, FL
ESPNNEWS
I'm just going to be completely honest, it was not pleasant watching South Florida play basketball. I understand they've had some injuries and weren't very good (9-23) last year either, but it may be time to boycott USF games until they learn to shoot.
If I wanted to watch someone shoot poorly for 40 minutes and need 11 timeouts to catch their (his) breath, I would've videotaped my game last month against my brother-in-law (7-6 loss).
Looking at the final box it looks like USF shot 32 percent from the field, though it seemed much lower. If I had to guess the Bulls' brick percentage (B%), I'd go with 86%.
Anyway, despite all of that, Central Florida still couldn't put the game away.
The Golden Knights had a 14-point lead at the 12-minute mark, but USF pulled to within 52-48 late. A.J. Davis was excellent in the second half, scoring 20 of his 22 points in the Knights' 64-54 win.
* UCF got 34 points from its bench, 12 of which came from Chance McSpadden, the newest member of the Scoochie Smith All Stars.
