In Ohio's 68-60 victory, the Bobcats' school-record 30th, play-by-play man Marty Bannister put together a fine evening of saying the word "basketball":

1st quarter: 7
2nd: 12
3rd: 17
4th: 9

Total: 45 (1.1/game minute)

Games 721-722: Two on Tuesday

721 - Ohio at Kent State

One of my favorite things about writing about college basketball is there are so many teams at several levels, so every day I can discover a player I didn't previously know existed.

Tuesday, I found out about Ohio freshman Jason Preston. He's an excellent passer and really quick to the rim, making him a perfect fit in Ohio's offense, which relies on moving the ball quickly around the perimeter to find open threes. Preston came pretty close to a triple-double in the Bobcats' 78-73 loss - 11 points, eight assists (with no turnovers) and eight rebounds - and I'm looking forward to watching him more over the next three seasons.

For the winners, Jaylin Walker scored 18 of his game-high 23 points in the second half (and was 4-of-6 from three-point range) and carried the Golden Flashes down the stretch of their ninth MAC victory.

Games 442-443: Sunday doubleheader

* Associated Press No. 11 Tennessee is now 10-0 after an 82-75 win over the second-ranked Longhorns. Tennessee struggled from three (2-of-13), so instead attacked the rim with post players Jaime Nared (game-high 23 points) and Mercedes Russell (15 points 7-of-13 shooting) leading the way. During an excellent fourth quarter in which the Vols made nine of their 13 shots (the visitors were 11-of-16), all 34 points came either in the paint on lay-ins (18) or at the free-throw line after penetration (16).

* For the second time in as many Texas games at 200 Game Season Brooke McCarty struggled. The talented senior guard was 2-of-15 from the field and scored just eight points Sunday. Not coincidentally, Texas lost both games.

It was the Longhorns' first loss after starting the year 7-0.
