Game 248 - California at USC

January 8 at Galen Center in Los Angeles, CA
ESPNU

What a finish for Ivan Rabb and the Golden Bears.

Rabb hit the go-ahead free throws with five seconds left, then blocked Jordan McLaughlin attempt at the game-winner as time expired in a 74-73 victory.

McLaughlin, who along with teammate Chimezie Metu led all scorers with 20 points, had hit a bucket with 17 seconds to play that put USC in front 73-72.

Cal, trying to get back to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season, has alternated wins (Arizona State & USC) and losses (Arizona & UCLA) through its first four Pac 12 contests. Rabb led the way with 17 points.

The Trojans shot the ball extremely well from the field (51% and 58% from three), but lost for the first time in 10 home games this season.

The Pac 12 ladies and gentleman!

That's five teams from the conference (Cal, Arizona, Oregon State, USC & Colorado) already eliminated from the tournament.

A lower seed - Syracuse - winning 70-51 and a Steve Smith "basketball" count. What a way to start the day.

Sometimes you just have to turn the announcers off and instead listen to a bunch of music.

We'd done it a number of times at the baseball site, but Sunday night's 80-62 California win was our first 200 Game Season Mute Mix.
