Tim Kempton has put together one of the most decorated careers in the history of the Patriot League and we finally got a chance to see the senior center in action.
In Lehigh's 79-71 win, Kempton not only led the way with 24 points and 11 rebounds, but hit a milestone that few in the Patriot have ever reached. With a rebound at the 18:16 mark of the second half, Kempton became just the third player in the conference's history to reach the 1,000-point, 1,000-rebound plateau. He joins Bucknell alum and current Atlanta Hawk Mike Muscala & former Colgate standout Adonal Foyle (who reached those marks in just three seasons) as the only players to accomplish the feat.
Kempton, the two-time defending Patriot player of the year, could be headed for award No. 3 as he was averaging 20.2 points and 9.9 rebounds coming into the night. Bucknell's skilled post player, Nana Foulland, had a nice night as well, finishing with 16 points, 13 rebounds (Kempton and Foulland are 1-2 in the league in rebounding) and three blocked shots.
And let's not forget Austin Price, who hit 5-of-9 from three-point range and very nearly doubled his scoring average with a game-high 25 points for the Mountain Hawks.
Bucknell had a seven-game winning streak - it's longest run since the Muscala-led 2012-13 team reached the NCAA Tournament - snapped. The Bison are 0-2 against Lehigh and 11-0 against the rest of the conference.
