Game 652 - Sacred Heart women at Kentucky

December 29 at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, KY
SEC Network

A big thing with basketball announcers during this portion of the college season is how the players are adjusting to having some time off for the holidays. Usually they express this concern by mentioning the "legs" of the players and how those legs are HEAVY & they need to get them going again after the break.

Play-by-play man Clay Ables and color commentator Christi Thomas took it to another level Saturday morning in Kentucky's 71-43 win. Here's a breakdown:

First quarter

"heavy legs"
"those legs just feel heavy"
"get their legs underneath them"
"just getting some legs out from under her" (This is my favorite of the day. Makes it seem like the player, Kentucky's Maci Morris, was removing a bunch of other people's legs out from under her).

Second

"their legs aren't there" (THEIR legs aren't THERE !)

Third

"legs a little heavy"
"does Sacred Heart have the legs?"
"get your legs back after the holiday break"

Game 444 - Sacred Heart at Hartford

December 11 at Chase Arena in West Hartford, CT
espn3.com

Few things for Hartford: Hassan Attia blocked seven (!) shots, which is a crazy amount of blocks for one player at any level, Travis Weatherington was 7-of-8 from the field, 4-of-5 from three-point range and scored 18 points, while the hosts shot 57% from the field (33-for-58) in an 86-72 win.

Sacred Heart's Joseph Lopez is a really impressive post player and he finished with a team-high 20 points on 8-of-17 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds in a losing effort.

Broadcast team of Sean Saint Jacques & Adam Finklestein, close it out....

"stick a rhythm pull up"
"traditional big"
"heat check"
"verticality"
"physicality"
"you call that rim running" (4)
"tight whistle"
"pep in his step"
"small ball lineup"
"they're gonna have to gang rebound" (3)
"the bank is open, after hours, in Hartford!"
