Western Conference semifinals
Game 3
May 4 at Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City, UT
ESPN
I imagine Utah was feeling pretty confident heading into Friday's game. The fifth-seeded Jazz had just evened the series and secured home-court advantage with a win in Houston in game two.
That confidence went away in a hurry.
The top seed had a dominant first quarter and were never threatened in winning 113-92 to take a 2-1 series lead.
The Rockets, who won an NBA-best 65 games during the regular season, shot 61% in the opening period (16-of-26), assisting on 10 of those made baskets and led 39-22 through one. The lead grew to as much as 88-50 in the third on a long Eric Gordon 3-pointer with 4 1/2 minutes to play.
Gordon was great off the bench, finishing with 25 points on 8-of-13 shooting. Gordon and James Harden led all players in scoring with Harden adding 12 assists.
Game four is Sunday.

Games 491-492: College/pro doubleheader
492 - Golden State at Houston
January 20 at Toyota Center in Houston, TX
January 20 at Toyota Center in Houston, TX
ABC
Fantastic game for Chris Paul, who led the Rockets to a 116-108 victory.
Paul scored 33 points and added 11 rebounds and seven assists. The 32-year old also made 6-of-11 from behind the arc and that rebound total is his most since also grabbing 11 in November, 2016 for the Clippers against Oklahoma City.
491 - Baylor at Kansas
January 20 at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, KS
ESPN
The misery against Kansas continues for Baylor.
Malik Newman had a game-high 24 points, including the go-ahead lay-in with just over a minute to play as Kansas won 70-67.
Baylor is now 0-16 lifetime at Allen Fieldhouse and has lost 11 consecutive games in the series.
The Bears led 67-61 on a nice foul line jumper by Manu Lecomte with just under three minutes to play, but Newman was on another level late in the game. He followed Lecomte's bucket with a three-point play that began a personal, 7-0 run that was capped by a bucket at the 1:11 mark that put the Jayhawks up 68-67.
Newman actually scored 12 straight Kansas points during a three-minute stretch. He was outstanding at a perfect time for Kansas, which moved to 6-1 in Big 12 play. Devonte Graham did what your best player is supposed to do when he struggles with his shot (3-of-10 from the field) as he handed out seven assists and grabbed eight rebounds.
Baylor hasn't won in the series since March, 2013.

Game 447 - Charlotte Hornets at Houston Rockets
December 13 at Toyota Center in Houston, TX
ESPN
Chris Paul was outstanding throughout Wednesday's 108-96 win for Houston.
Paul was three rebounds shy of a triple-double - 31 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds - as the NBA-best Rockets won their 11th consecutive game. James Harden didn't quite match the triple-double he put together the last time these two teams played on October 27, but he still handed out eight assists to go along with 21 points. It was the 26th consecutive game in which Harden has scored at least 20 points.
During the win streak, Houston has won by an average margin of 17 points.

Chris Paul is a good three-pointer shooter"
Chris Paul is one of the great assist men in the game"
Dwight Howard is going to get his rebounds"

Game 258 - Golden State Warriors at Houston Rockets
January 20 at Toyota Center in Houston, TX
ESPN
The Warriors made 15 threes, but even more important was their work on Houston's outside game (the Rockets made just 7-of-35 from behind the arc) in winning their sixth straight, 125-108.
Kevin Durant was great for the visitors, scoring 32 points on 12-of-19 shooting and he handed out seven of the team's 30 assists. Durant has 71 points in two games against Houston this season.
Houston's bench, led by Clint Capela - 22 points & 12 rebounds - out-scored its starters 58-50. That's never usually a good thing.
