Grambling closed the first half on a 19-3 run, then hit half of its 30 field goal attempts in the second to win 79-57.
The trio of Axel Mpoyo (22 points on 8-of-10 shooting, 11 rebounds), Dallas Polk-Hilliard (20 points, 8-of-14 FG) & point guard Ivy Smith (18 points, seven assists) were excellent for the Tigers, who moved above .500 at 5-4 in SWAC play.
Mississippi Valley State, which dropped to 3-20 overall and remained winless on the road at 0-15, were beaten on the glass (50-32 rebounding edge for the hosts) and saw Grambling score 10 of the first 13 points within the first three minutes of the second half that essentially put an end to this one.
