Game 475 - Navy at Colgate

January 8 at Cotterell Court in Hamilton, NY
Patriot League Network

We're in the middle of season 3 at this site and Monday was our first chance to listen to Erik Malinowski. What a pleasure it was.

The Malinowski top 10:

"Raider round ball" - said 16 times
"the ticky tack variety"
"triple town!" (yelled five times)
"high into the Hamilton sky for the rebound"
"Maynard the magnificent"
"Swop with a hop in his step!"
"gets some road lovin from the rim"
"and Malcolm in the middle going to the line!"
"the blow by"
"looking to salt this game away"

On the court, Sean O'Brien led a 70-62 Colgate win with an 18-point night, including being a part of an 11-for-11 free throw line trip as a team down the stretch. O'Brien came into the game with a 5.2 assist-to-turnover ratio, third nationally, so his three turnovers and six assists actually represent an off night for the senior guard.

It was a disappointing final 25 minutes for Navy. The visitors, which got a game-high 24 points from Shawn Anderson, led 28-18 with just under five minutes to go until halftime, but didn't score for more than eight minutes and allowed Colgate to end the first half on an 11-0 run. Navy's 28-27 lead with two minutes to go in the first half was its last.
