Rockdale HS at Clarkston HS (g-48, b-49)
December 15 at Clarkston HS gymnasium in Clarkston, GA
The Rockdale High School basketball teams had no trouble on Tuesday evening, winning the girls game 55-13 and the boys' nightcap 72-41.
In the opener, the Bulldogs out-scored Clarkston 26-2 in the third quarter, which turned a 13-point halftime lead into a laugher.
Jonai Jackson didn't start and was held to two points in the first half, but scored 12 in that third period. Clarkston made just four field goals.
Jalen Jordan is a sort of dark horse college prospect getting looks from a number of schools, including Tennessee Tech. He'll be a guard in college - he's run the point at times for the Rockdale boys and is an excellent long-range shooter (54% from behind the arc as a junior). Jordan showed off that shooting ability Tuesday, hitting five 3-pointers and scoring a game-high 23 points as the Bulldogs rolled.
Also a big night for senior Babatunde Sailu, who was a monster on the glass. The 6-5 forward grabbed five offensive rebounds, four of which went for put backs. Jordan and Sailu hooked up on nearly-identical fast break dunks about 25 seconds apart in the second quarter that really set the tone for the remainder of the night.
