Northern Iowa trailed by two points at halftime and 49-46 early in the second half, but used an 11-0 run to take the lead for good in a 93-70 victory.

The Panthers' defense was the real story over the final 17 minutes as North Texas made just 8-of-25 over that stretch (with six turnovers) after starting the game hitting 20-of-29 from the field.

Notes

* Taking the first name "Michael" and adding letters and an apostrophe to it or coming up with a new way of spelling it & adding a J doesn't mean those were the right things to do.

That's the situation we have with North Texas players Ja'Michael Brown and J-Mychal Reese.

* Let's get to some Basketball Phrases from the broadcast team.

"A culture of excellent defense"
"Double-double machine"
"That's a horse shot"
"More interchangable parts"
"The man in the middle"
"Passing that leather around"

And also, this was said about Northern Iowa coach Ben Jacobson, who coming into the night was an excellent 201-106 in 10 seasons at UNI:

"This consistency of winning by Ben Jacobson is unparalleled."

He's been very good. But: unparalleled?!
