Game 433 - Notre Dame women at Michigan

November 29 at Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, MI
Big 10 Network

Just a phenomenal performance by Notre Dame's Arike Ogunbowale in this Big 10/ACC Challenge game.

Ogunbowale hit a variety of nice pull up and fade away jumpers on her way to 32 points (tied a career high) as the Associated Press No. 3 Irish stayed unbeaten at 7-0 with an 83-63 victory.

Ogunbowale, a junior guard, made 65% of her field goal attempts (13-of-20), but it was a bit of her distribution that allowed Notre Dame to start to pull away. The visitors led 43-34 at halftime and it was a still a nine-point game early in the third when No. 22 Michigan turned the ball over and missed a lay up, which each led to perfectly executed Ogunbowale-to-Jackie Young fast break lay-ups that made it a 50-37 game.

Young, coming off an MVP performance in the Gulf Coast Showcase, had 18 points and 14 rebounds.

It was already Notre Dame's fourth win over a ranked opponent through the season's first three weeks. The Irish have also defeated No. 5 and defending national champion South Carolina in the Gulf Coast title game, No. 17 South Florida and 21st-ranked Oregon State. Connecticut will be the fifth when the Irish visit Storrs on Sunday.

Tough night for Katelynn Flaherty. The senior guard, Michigan's all-time leading scorer and second-leading scorer nationally coming into the night, missed 13 of her 18 field goal attempts and finished with just 13 points. Junior center Hallie Thome picked up the slack, scoring 24 points on 8-of-16 shooting.
